Who is Artemis?

Artemis is one of the most ancient deities in the Greek Olympian pantheon. Her name is of an unknown etymology & her origin rests in earlier, pre-Greek mythology. Artemis is the Goddess of light (of the moon), the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, childbirth, nursing children, chastity, protector of young women, maiden song and dance, archery, disease, plague and sudden death.
